01. Introduction

Thuong Studio (thuong.studio, "we", "our", or "us") operates the VocaRead Chrome extension ("VocaRead" or "the Extension"). VocaRead is a rapid serial visual presentation (RSVP) speed reading extension designed to display text word-by-word at user-controlled speeds (100–1000 WPM) with optional text-to-speech audio narration. This Privacy Policy details our strict zero-telemetry architecture and full compliance with Google Chrome Web Store developer policies.

02. Single Purpose & Chrome Permissions

In accordance with Google Chrome Web Store policies, VocaRead adheres strictly to a single purpose:providing an inline RSVP speed reading display and audio narration for user-selected web content.

VocaRead requests only the minimum necessary Chrome Manifest V3 permissions required to deliver this service:

• sidePanel: Renders the primary RSVP reader interface inside Chrome's side panel window.
• activeTab & scripting: Used exclusively to extract selected text or DOM elements from the current active tab when launched by the user.
• storage: Stores user preferences (WPM speed, theme accent, font style, font size, voice selection, and locale) locally on your device via chrome.storage.

03. Data We Process & Store

Local Configuration & Preferences

VocaRead stores your preferences locally inside Google Chrome's isolatedchrome.storage.local environment. This includes:

• Reading speed (Words Per Minute / WPM, range 100–1000 WPM)
• Visual styles (Bionic Reading mode, Bold, Regular, font choice, font size, and accent color themes)
• TTS narration voice selection and volume settings
• UI language selection (supporting 30+ locales)
• Keyboard shortcut keybindings (e.g., Alt+Shift+R, Space, Enter)

In-Memory Transient Web Page Text & Segmentation

When you select web text or use the Element Picker, VocaRead processes extracted text entirely in volatile local device RAM. Word segmentation (using native Intl.Segmenter for space-delimited and non-space-delimited languages such as Thai, Korean, Japanese, and Chinese) is performed 100% locally on your machine.

Extracted web text and page contents are never recorded, never written to disk, and never transmitted over the network. Once your reading session ends, transient memory is purged immediately.

Native Speech Synthesis (Text-to-Speech)

Voice narration uses your device's native browser SpeechSynthesis API. Audio generation is processed locally by your operating system or browser TTS engine. No audio data or spoken text is recorded or transmitted to external servers.

04. Data We Do NOT Collect or Sell

Thuong Studio enforces zero-telemetry data policies. We do NOT:

• Collect, record, or track browsing history, URLs, or visited web pages
• Store, upload, or analyze text content speed-read by users
• Sell, rent, monetize, or trade user data to third parties, advertising networks, or data brokers
• Collect personal identification information (names, emails, account passwords)
• Track user IP addresses, device serial numbers, or cross-site analytics

05. Chrome Web Store Limited Use Compliance

VocaRead's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements:

• Data access is restricted strictly to providing and improving the RSVP speed reading and TTS features.
• Data is never transferred to third parties.
• Data is never used or transferred for serving personalized, retargeted, or interest-based advertisements.

06. AI & Machine Learning Policy

We explicitly declare that user text, reading material, browser data, and configuration choices processed by VocaRead are never used, disclosed, or transferred to train artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), or large language models (LLMs).

07. Third-Party Services

VocaRead operates 100% client-side with no remote server backend or analytics trackers.

Chrome Web Store: Manages extension distribution, updates, and installation licensing under Google's Privacy Policy.

08. Data Security & Storage

Because VocaRead operates locally inside Google Chrome's sandboxed extension environment without remote server infrastructure, your settings and text content are secured directly by your operating system and browser security sandbox.

09. Children's Privacy

VocaRead is compliant with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and GDPR Article 8. We do not collect or request personal information from children or adults.

10. Data Deletion & Removal

You maintain total authority over your local extension data. Uninstalling VocaRead from Google Chrome (chrome://extensions) immediately and permanently purges all stored preferences from your device.

11. Changes to This Policy

We reserve the right to update this Privacy Policy to reflect technical or legal modifications. Revisions will update the "Effective Date" at the top of this page.

12. Your Rights (California Residents - CCPA / CPRA)

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), California residents have rights regarding personal information. Because VocaRead collects zero personal data:

• Right to Know & Access: No personal data is stored on remote servers.
• Right to Delete: No remote personal data exists to delete.
• Right to Opt-Out of Sale / Sharing: We do not sell or share user data.

13. Your Rights (EU Residents - GDPR)

Under General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) standards, European Economic Area residents enjoy strict data protection rights. VocaRead complies via zero-data collection:

• Right of Access & Portability: No personal profiles or telemetry data exist.
• Right to Erasure (Right to be Forgotten): Uninstalling the Extension completely removes local preferences.

14. International Users

VocaRead executes locally on your workstation. No reading text or configuration profiles leave your device or cross international borders.
